Panama La Vieja is the name known to the architectural vestiges of the Monumental Historic of the first Spanish city in mainland Pacific coast . A Wonder full of great stories related to pirates , and where he spent much of the gold that won Spain during the colonial era .
Panama La Vieja is one of the urban attractions that can be visited easily and walk its old cobbled streets overgrown with grass , which speak of a history of over 476 years .

Founded on the Pacific coast of America on August 15, 1519 by Pedro Arias de Avila , from this city came expeditions culminated in the conquest of the Inca Empire of Peru in 1532. He was also the terminal point of one of the most important trade routes in the history of the American continent and focused on the famous fairs of Nombre de Dios and Portobelo.
His fire, destruction and looting occurred in 1671, when it was taken by the pirate Henry Morgan , were the events that led to the removal and construction of the new City of Panama in 1673 and is now known as Old Town .


Panama La Vieja was declared a National Historical Monument December 22, 1976 .
